Saraki Shuns APC, Names Ali Ndume Senate Leader

The President of the Senate, Senator Bukola Saraki has shunned the proposal of his party, All Progressives Congress (APC) to nominate members for the leadership positions in the Nigerian Senate.

At the resumed plenary of the Senate on Thursday, Saraki apporved the nomination of Senator Ali Ndume as the Senate Leader, Senator Bala Ibn-Na’Allah as Deputy Senate Leader and Senator Francis Alimikhnea as the Deputy Whip of the Senate.

This move is against the directive of the party which pushed for the party to nominate members for the positions.

The APC caucus of the North East nominated Senator Ali Ndume while that of Northwest nominated Senator Bala Ibn-Na’Allah.
