I read a quote from Jim Rohn this morning:
“We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment.”
When you break success down, it is rather binary. Like Yoda says, “Do or do not, there is no try.” Either you win or lose, succeed or fail, experience elation or disappointment.
But the decision is yours. You can choose either the pain of discipline and hard work, or the pain of looking yourself in the mirror and knowing that you didn’t give everything you had to the thing that “meant everything to you.” One or the other is going to come, and you have to choose which one.
Eric Thomas says, “Pain is temporary. It may last for an hour, or a day, or a month, or even a year. But eventually it will subside.” Unfortunately, the pain of regret and disappointment isn’t the pain he’s talking about. When you’re working toward your goal, it’s going to be difficult to keep going at times. It will be painful. But the pain of discipline will go away, and success will be left. The pain of regret will keep coming back and haunting you. So make your decision – IRRATIONAL LIVING, LLC
