Terminally ill one-year-old who ‘married’ her father so he could give her the ‘wedding of her dreams’ loses her battle with cancer

Poppy-Mai Barnard’s heartbroken father Andy announced his Princess had grown her ‘angel wings’ this afternoon after battling a brain tumour.

The one-year-old, from Thetford, Norfolk, died in her father’s arms while her mother stroked her hair at home at 1.16pm today.

Andy Barnard, 31, got married to his daughter Poppy-Mai after she was diagnosed with terminal cancer because he promised she would have a 'dream wedding' 

Andy said his family was ‘heartbroken’, but more determined than ever to raise enough money to build a retreat in her memory to help other families with sick children.

He released a poignant poem he had written about his daughter and pledged to fulfil his promise to raise £100,000 for the project.
